Paul just turned forty, and Sheila put on a suprise party! Getting friends, colleagues and neighbours in on the act, she had the boss at work keep Paul late in a meeting, and then his friend take him to the Mess for a birthday round. By the time he was dropped off at the house, everyone was there and waiting.
The theme of the party was wine. Sheila got an expert, Evan Hawkins of Pembina Fine Wines, to come in and give a tasting. It was a big hit.
For the cake, an old photo of Paul as a young officer cadet in training was made into icing. (It's edible -- amazing what they can do with computer scanners nowadays.)
